Merry Christmas...

I hope everyone of you have had a great Christmas. Don't forget that there will be no services this coming Sunday (12-28-08), and be sure and remember our awards banquet on December 30th at 7:00p.m.

I saw this pic and had to post it here. Cheers!

Hyperventilate...

One of the things I hear consistently from people of faith is that they have a hard time sharing their faith. It goes something like this...

  • "My heart begins to pound out of my chest."
  • "I get a big lump in my throat."
  • "I get real nervous and break out in a cold sweat."
  • "I feel like I am going to hyperventilate."
  • "I go blank and can't think of anything to say."
  • "I would share my faith, but I don't think I know enough."
  • "I don't want to offend anyone."
We've all had those moments... it's a lot like going to Junior High for your first day of school!

Would it give you confidence if you thought the person you were going to share your faith with would appreciate what you had to say... even if they didn't agree with your position?

Check out this video from Penn Jillette, of the Penn & Teller magician/comedy duo. It is well known that Mr. Jillette is an atheist, but I deeply appreciate what he has to say about the topic of "proselytizing".

It's a Conspiracy...

Due to the current economic climate many people are being forced to think differently about Christmas. People are starting to reel in the consumerism monster that lurks inside most of us. I say finally! It's about time we came to our senses. The guys here have been leading the charge for several years. Maybe you should consider joining in on the conspiracy...

Are You a Hostage?

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. During the great time that was Punkin'Palooza I got out of the habit of posting regularly and haven't been able to force myself back into the habit.

That aside I have a great quote for you...

To forgive is to set a prisoner free, and discover that the prisoner is you.

- Lewis Smedes

We are smack dab in the middle of our Hostage series, and I believe God is working in our lives to free us from the strongholds that hold us prisoner. Unforgiveness is a stronghold that holds many of us hostage at one time or another. Are you a hostage to unforgiveness? Who are you holding a grudge against? Who is the person that when you hear their name something begins to churn inside you?

It is time to let it go, and let God teach you to love in a supernatural way. Then, and only then, will you be free! Matthew 6:14-15 paints a clear picture of who is the real hostage when you harbor unforgiveness.
